Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse
Prices of dessert strawberries were relatively stable last week but depending on the quality they ranged from 0,74 to 1,33 EUR/kg. ‘Marmolada’ strawberries of first class were reaching the highest level.
Prices of strawberries for processing (without stalk and calyx) reached the level of 0,89 – 0,95 EUR/kg at the beginning of last week but this price started decreasing already on June 17th. In the end of last week average prices were 0,74 – 0,80 EUR/kg.
There were no surprises for ‘Burlat’ cherries last week. Stable supply resulted in prices at level of 1,78 – 1,93 EUR/kg.
Prices of greenhouse cucumbers were changing the most last week. After heavy crops when price reached on June 13th the minimum of 0,33 EUR/kg, supply was decreasing during whole week and price increased to about 0,62 – 0,68 EUR/kg. The producers have less and less greenhouse cucumbers to be offered. Situation is even worse due to drought which delays vegetation of ground cucumbers.
The expectations regarding the increase of cauliflowers prices were confirmed at the beginning of last week. The up-trend started about June 12th and was caused by the end of the heavy crops of these vegetables. On Monday, June 16th price of cauliflowers reached the maximum at average of 0,63 EUR/piece. Beginning of next heavy crops, delayed a little by dry weather, resulted in prices decrease to average level of 0,50 EUR/piece in the end of last week.
Prices of tomatoes went up in the first days of 3rd week of June as continuation of increase started about June 13th caused by less supply of these vegetables. Prices of tomatoes reached the maximum on Tuesday, June 17th (tomatoes size B – average price of 0,86 EUR/kg) and one could see this price was too high for buyers. The quantity of tomatoes on the market increased in the following days what resulted in prices decrease. Last Friday price of tomatoes size B was at average level of 0,79 EUR/kg.
Wholesale volumes of domestic green and white sweet peppers appeared on the market last week. In the end of last week price of white sweet peppers was at the level of 1,48 EUR/kg and of green peppers ranged from 1,33 to 1,36 EUR/kg.
Supply of domestic early beetroots increases steadily. Demand is additionally met by import (e.g. from Spain), what resulted in little prices decrease. On Friday, June 20th price was at level of 0,59 – 0,89 EUR/kg.
Price of early cabbages decreased considerably last week. In some regions of Poland it reached 0,18 EUR/kg for cabbages packed in bags.
In comparison with the end of the second week of June the price of French beans increased by about 0,30 EUR/kg, reaching 2,08 EUR/kg on Friday, June 20th.
