Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse (8-14.12.2008)

In the second week of December prices of eating apples remained stable. Prices of red apples, size 70 + and 75 + intended for export were from 0.176 to 0.227 euro/kg. Golden Delicious still remains more expensive.

The supply of Golden is lower and its price is from 0.25 to 0.30 euro/kg. Recipients are also interested in Mutsu and last week its price reached 0.327 euro/kg. The price of industrial apples is slightly going up (in polish zloty). In mazowieckie province he purchase price in some purchasing centers was 0.04 euro/kg. In śląskie province in processing plants the purchase price was to 0.05 euro/kg. Supply of domestic pears was much reduced and many producers already sold all pears. As a result the price of pears was quite high. The price of Lucas and Conference was from 0.43 euro/kg without packaging.

On the market of fresh vegetables one can see more and more clearly the influence of coming winter. Following domestic tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and cauliflowers also domestic broccoli are ending. In the wholesale trade the last quantities of domestic broccoli were sold at 0.65 euro/piece and their price was the same what imported broccoli. As regards tomatoes, peppers and lettuces only imported vegetables are on the market and their prices can increase as a result of growing EUR/PLN exchange rate.

Last week one could noticed some fluctuation in average price of carrot. The price of carrot was increasing mainly in mazowieckie province, where the price of good quality carrot washed with brushes was to 0.25 euro/kg.

At the end of last week the average price of onion slightly decreased as a result of some supplies of onion at price 0.06 euro/kg on the market. However this decrease probably is not long-term and it is rather resulted from activity of some producers who wanted to sale bigger quantities of onion before X-mas. This year there are lower stocks of onion than last years and however the quality of onion is not good the lower supply of this vegetable will probably cause the price increase.
The prices of headed cabbages and Chinese cabbages are still very low.

Prices of other domestic vegetables remained stable.
