Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse

Last week price of domestic greenhouse tomatoes increased and production was insufficient. However on 16th May price deeply decreased and further decrease is expected.

Big supply of early cabbages and early Chinese cabbages meets demand of the market.
On the market there is lack of carrots.

Trade companies supplement shortage of carrots by imported products of previous season at price about 0.59 EUR/kg and imported early carrots (cleaned, in poly bags) from Great Britain and Italy at price 0.59 – 0.65 EUR/kg. On the market domestic early bunched carrots is available.
On the market there is lack of domestic onions and imported ones are hardly 2nd class and are affected by bacteria. Such onions are unsatisfactory for long transport and should be sold as quick as possible. Luckily early bunched onions are already available and the demand can be partially met by retailers.

There is lack of beetroots of satisfactory condition but young beet leaves with quite big roots are available at wholesale price 0.36 – 0.44 EUR/bunch.

Buying domestic leeks one shall pay attention if leeks are running to seed. Imported leeks are available at net prices 0.86 – 1.03 EUR/kg.

Traders from Moldavia were interested in apples (Idared variety) and it caused increase in apples prices at the end of last week.

First domestic strawberries growing in polytunnels appeared on the market but quantities are very small. Producers are complaining about lack of workers. It is not clear if they are able to find workers to pick strawberries.
