The second decade of August started and many fruit growers started worrying about prices of industrial apples. Prices of industrial apples are low – 0.12-0.16 PLN (0.03-0.04 euro)/kg in purchasing companies and 0.20 PLN (0.05 euro)/kg for apples delivered just to processing plants. Processing plants announced that prices would not be higher.
Last week prices of dessert apples (Delicates and Paula Red) were 1.00-1.10 PLN (0.24-0.27 euro)/kg for apples 65-70 in packages.
Prices of raspberries again decreased. In processing plants the price in of raspberries class 1 was 3.00-3.50 PLN (0.73-0.85 euro)/kg and the price of raspberries class 2 was 2.20 -2.70 PLN (0.53-0.65 euro)/kg.
Prices of plums were very different depending on the region of Poland. The price of Lapotica variety was from 1.00 PLN (0.24 euro)/kg in lubelskie province to 3.00 PLN (0.73 euro)/kg in wielkopolskie province. The purchase of plums for IQF (Łowicka variety) started last week In dolnośląskie province their price was 0.60 PLN (0.14 euro)/kg.
Last week the purchase of chokeberries also started. However the demand for chokeberries will be probably very low this season. Many processing plants announced that they would not purchase this fruit.
Last week prices of majority of vegetables were stable. On the market there is still lack of cauliflowers and broccoli and their prices are high but they don’t increase any more. Prices were 2.60-3.00 PLN (0.63-0.73 euro)/pcs for cauliflowers and 2.00 PLN (0.48 euro)/pcs for broccoli.
Prices of greenhouse cucumbers remained low – slight above 1.00 PLN (0.24 euro)/kg. However in some regions of Poland the price of short cucumbers was above 1.70 PLN (0.41 euro)/kg. On the market there is still low supply of cucumbers for pickles (6-9 cm) and cucumbers for pickling in brine (9-12 cm). Their prices were 2.00-2.70 PLN (0.48-0.65 euro)/kg and 1.10-2.00 PLN (0.27-0.48 euro)/kg adequately.
As it was expected, prices of tomatoes increased. Last week the average price of tomatoes B increased from 1.58 PLN (0.38 euro)/kg to 2.00 PLN (0.48 euro)/kg and the price of BB tomatoes from 1.83 (0.44) to 2.17 PLN (0.53 euro)/kg.
Prices of sweet peppers were still decreasing. The price of red ones packed into cartons was 3.15 PLN (0.76 euro)/kg, the price of white peppers was 2.15 PLN (0.52 euro)/kg and the price of green peppers was 1.75 PLN (0.42 euro)/kg.
Last week one could observe the upward trend in prices of white cabbage. Due to rainy weather a lot of cabbages rotten just on fields and the supply of cabbage on the market decreased. In mazowieckie province price of white cabbage increased to 1.70 PLN (0.41 euro)/pcs.
