Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analysis (15.03-21.03.2010) - fruit

Prices of apples, after significant decrease in previous weeks, remained at relatively low level last week. However, comparing the current situation to that which took place two weeks ago, when the purchase of apples was very low, last week one could observe an increase in the quantity of bought apples. In the area o Grójec the demand for Idared was low as usual. Some companies stopped purchasing this variety and in those companies which were still buying Idared the price was 0.50 PLN/kg for apples size 70 +, from the ordinary cold storage. In other production areas - Sandomierz and Lublin – prices of Idared deceased to 0.50 – 0.60 PLN (0.13-0.15 €)/kg.

Prices of red apples were similar in all production areas. Trading companies were interested in purchasing apples of red varieties but only in large sizes and the purchase price was from 0.65 to 0.70 PLN (0.17-0.18 €)/kg for apples 75 + and from 0.70 to 0.80 PLN (0.18-0.20 €)/kg for apples 80 +. The producer price of Ligol was 0.80 - 0.90 PLN (0.20-0.23 €)/kg for apples 80 +. Of course, apples had to be of good quality, appropriate firmness and at least from the ordinary cold storage.

The trading companies were buying Gala only from CA and ULO, and its price ranged from 1.00 to 1.20 PLN (0.26-0.31 €)/kg for apples 65 + or 70+. The exporters were particularly interested in Royal Gala. Golden Delicious was in low demand.

Pears were bought in small quantities only for domestic market and their price remained at the same level. In the area of Grójec the producer price of Conference and Lucas was 1.50 PLN (0.38 €)/kg for pears 60 + and 70 +. In the area of Sandomierz price for Conference, 65 + ranged from 1.50 to 1.70 PLN (0.38-0.44 €)/kg.

The price of industrial apples did not changed. In purchasing companies the price was from 0.12 to 0.15 PLN (0.03-0.038-/kg and in processing plants from 0.16 to 0.20 (0.04-0.05 €)/kg depending on the region.
