Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analysis (18-24.01.2010)
Prices of apples for processing remained stable. In purchasing centers the price was 0.15 PLN (0.037 euro)/kg and in processing plants - 0.18 – 0.19 PLN (0.044-0.47 euro)/kg. The supply of such apples is of course rather low – only waste from stores and cold stores. Export of apples to the east is slowly growing what influences the prices.
The prices of red apples, size 70 + were 0.80 – 0.90 PLN (0.20-0.22 euro)/kg with packaging. The price of Idared was 0.80 – 0.85 PLN (0.20-0.21 euro)/kg. Price of Ligol exceeded 1.00 PLN (0.25 euro)/kg. Price of Golden Delicious was 1.30 – 1.40 PLN (0.32-0.34 euro)/kg and price of Mutsu – 1.50 PLN (0.37 euro)/kg. All prices included packaging.
Heavy frost makes trade in fresh vegetables difficult what results in prices increase. Export of vegetables to the east is also slightly higher.
Sale of Chinese cabbage is also better. In the centre of Poland the price of such cabbage (with carton) exceeded 1.40 PLN (0.34 euro)/kg. However, the supply of Chinese cabbage from cold stores is high what stabilizes prices at the level 1.10 - 1.30 PN (0.27-0.32 euro)/kg. One can observe it in małopolskie province where the producer price of Chinese cabbage (without the packaging, not sorted) remains at the level of 0.65 (0.16 euro)/kg.
Prices of red and white cabbages are still increasing. On the market one can observe low supply of good quality potatoes. At the end of last week the price of such potatoes was 0.70 – 0.80 PLN (0.17-0.20 euro)/kg.
Domestic washed carrot remains expensive, its price is up to 1.10 PLN (0.27 euro)/kg.
Price of onion is also increasing very fast. At the end of last week, prices of onion reached 1.30 PLN (0.32 euro)/kg. However, in February one can expect bigger import of onion from the Netherlands what may reduce prices of onions.
Prices of imported tomatoes of size G decreased to 35 - 36 PLN (8.60-8.84 ruto)/carton 6 kg.
Prices of imported cucumbers, lettuces, leeks and broccoli as well as price of imported fruit remained stable.
