Will the bad weather influence the quality of onion?

The constant rainfall in many regions of Poland causes that the harvest of many vegetables is difficult. It concerns among others onion and it will probably influence its quality.

During the harvest onion should be dry, otherwise during the storage its quality is quickly worsened skin is darkened and shoots can appear. This year harvests of onion are expected at the level of 650 thousand ton i.e. 86.40% of last year’s crops. At the moment prices of onion are staying at the quite low level. On Wednesday, September 24th price of onion was 0.15 - 0.18 EUR/kg, but if the weather don’t improve the prices will surely increase.
