What is the current price for Gala apples or striped Gala sports on the Polish Market?

The last two weeks have brought significant changes on the export (dessert) apples market in Poland. The fruit harvest was definitely over and the supply, although high, began to stabilize. Only apples of smaller fruit growers who did not have a sufficient storage base and tried to get rid of the excess fruit on local markets and apples of fruit growers who, due to the critical economic situation, were forced to sell part of the fruit.

The stabilization of fruit supply influenced price changes - a slight increase in prices. Price increases apply to practically all varieties, but in a very diverse manner. Prices of some apples increased sharply (by as much as 9 eurocents per kilogram), while others increased barely by 2 eurocents per kilogram.

For Gala apples, which still remain the most expensive variety on the Polish markets, the situation is not so attractive. Prices, of course, have also risen, but their increase is not so spectacular, especially for the Ordinary Gala and the Must Gala. For this type of fruit in the 65+ calibre, prices range from 0,14 to 0,19 EUR per kilogram, which is on average 2 eurocents per kilogram more than at the end of October this year. The larger Gala 70+ is purchased up to 0,23 EUR per kilogram.

Export companies and wholesalers currently pay from 0,23 to 0,33 EUR per kilogram, i.e. on average 3-4 eurocents  per kilogram more for striped Gala sports in calibre 65+. Some companies are looking for a striped Gala in larger caliber 70+ or 75+ paying for them even up to 0,42 EUR per kilogram. Gala (striped Gala sports) are ready to be purchased up to 0,47 EUR per kilogram (apples of good quality, colored).
