Chinese cabbage prices up in Ukraine and Poland

In particular, Chinese cabbages are offered at Krymskiy Privoz Wholesale Market (Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine) at UAH 7-8/kg (EUR 0.46-0.52/kg), an increase of 14-17% week-on-week. We would remind you that in the same period of the previous season Chinese cabbage prices took just a third of the current levels.

Prices at Kopani Wholesale Market (Kherson Region, Ukraine) are similar to the price levels in Simferopol. However, prices grew there by 23-27% week-on-week, and now they are three and a half times of those registered a year before.

At the same time, sellers at Ozerka Wholesale Market (Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine) did not revise prices compared with the previous week and now ship Chinese cabbages at UAH 8-9/kg (EUR 0.52-0.59/kg). On a year-on-year basis, prices have doubled.

The same trend is observed at Bronisze Wholesale Market, Poland. For the present, Polish sellers are ready to sell Chinese cabbages at 0.65-0.68 euro/kg, an increase of 9-10% week-on-week. Compared with the previous year, Chinese cabbage prices have averagely quintupled.

Such a sharp increase in prices is connected with a fall in production of Chinese cabbages in Poland and Ukraine as well as a seasonal decrease in their supply.
