Global Berry Congress

2014-03-14 10:22
Eliminating waste in the supply chain and at point of sale is important for fresh produce as a whole and vitally important for the fresh berry category where freshness and shelf life are some of the biggest challenges. They are also key drivers for new profit growth in fresh berries.

“Fresh opportunities for profit in fresh berries” is the theme of the 6th Global Berry Congress, which takes place in Amsterdam on 7-9 April 2014. Organised by Eurofruit Magazine, the annual conference and networking event for the international berry sector brings together a first-class list of key speakers and panellists to discuss the matters of primary importance for the future growth of the berry category. Some 400 delegates attended the most recent edition of the conference event that took place in Santiago in April 2013.

At this year’s Global Berry Congress in The Netherlands Marks & Spencer's technical manager Johnathan Sutton is on hand to explain why food retailers need to ensure their shoppers must find only the very best berries on their shelves. It’s a technical challenge for the supply chain that is addressed by Professor Leon Terry of Cranfield University, while It’s Fresh and Bayer CropScience are going to propose their own solutions to the problem.

Global Berry Congress features a day of conference presentations and panel discussions on the most important issues in the berry category today. Topics in this year’s wide-ranging conference programme include a discussion on the latest innovations in berry production and marketing with contributions from expert speakers from France and the UK, and fascinating sessions on the newest techniques in berry marketing, and how best to meet market demand in northern Europe for fresh berries with speakers from The Netherlands, Norway, Germany and the US.

The Global Berry Congress also features “Berries 2020”, a keynote opening speech from one of the world’s leading marketers on how they see the future shape of the berry market. More news to come!

Registrations for Global Berry Congress 2014 are open. For the first time, delegates can register at the super early-bird fee and save almost 30 per cent on the full rate, paying just EUR 300 per person.
