Imported leeks are getting more expensive

Leeks in Belgium, Holland and France are expensive. It is caused by very low supply of good quality leeks (good enough to export). It is almost end of season because of such small amoun of this vegetable on the market.

Prices started increasing in the middle of April. Then price of leeks were at the level of 5.00 – 6.00 EUR/ 10kg. Currently, western export companies offer leeks from Belgium, Holland and France at price even over 13.00 EUR/ 10 kg.

On the Polish market prices of leeks imported from Eastern Europe (mainly from France as they are of best quality) came to the level of 45.00 – 50.00 PLN/ kg. It seems that prices will be even higher.
