Last domestic tomatoes

In the end of season there is decreasing volume of tomatoes on the market. Quality of last domestic vegetables leaves much to be desired.

What about prices? In the wholesale price of good quality tomatoes is at the quite good level of 20.00 - 24.00 PLN/ 6 kg carton, size B and BB. But these prices are almost virtual. It is difficult to buy good quality product, especially in wholesale.

Poorer quality tomatoes are much cheaper and cost from 15.00 to 20.00 PLN/ 6kg carton. It is not much taking into account end of November and costs of production.

There is much more imported tomatoes on the market, mainly from Holland. It is still available at last week prices from 18.00 to 20.00 PLN/ 5kg, but is getting more expensive.

Tomatoes from Spain were available but just for a while. Reason of that was Polish tomatoe in offer. It will change soon.

Meanwhile, in Almeria, prices of tomatoes have been increasing what also was a reason that they dissapeared from the Polish market. Now higher prices are not as much important. However it is difficult to predict the progrees on the Spanish market. On the one hand, poor weather was a reason of increasing prices. It could be noticed in prices of tomatoes offered by Casi. Currently prices of Larga Vida tomatoes, size M, are available at auction at price 0.68 EUR/kg, and size G at 0.72 EUr/kg. In other cooperatives prices were decreasing and were lower than Casi's prices. M - size tomatoes could be bouth at 0.35 - 0.50 EUR/kg, G - size from 0.50 to 0.65 EUR/kg.
