Onion prices still upwards in Poland?

The upward trend of onion prices on the Polish wholesale market has been going on since the end of September. What is interesting, it is mainly driven by the demand for peeled onions. Prices of the latter are so high that farmers prefer to sell bulk rather than in bags.

It was this mechanism that pushed up the price of onions on the fresh market, because demand was not particularly high here. However, the shortage of supply turned out to be the decisive factor. Imports from Kazakhstan did not help, because they are still too small in volume to have a significant impact on the overall balance of onion availability.  In other words, throughout the whole season we will be struggling on the Polish onion market with a gap in supply.
