Poland: phenomenon of Idared

Idared is ideal apples variety as regards transport condition. Apples of this variety are resistant to bruising, cold and long journeys, and at the same time are quite tasty and nicely coloured.

Idared can reach in good condition the furthest corners of our eastern neighbours and as a result it is basic apples variety in trade with the East.

Production area of this variety is the largest in Poland. Currently, the price of the most eagerly bought Idared, size 70 + is about 0.50 – 0.65 PLN (0.12-0.16 euro)/kg in telescopic boxes (12 - 13 kg). Such apples are widely popular among Russian recipients.
