Poland: prices of cherries

In 2008 production of cherries (40.8 thousand t) was twice higher than in 2007. This year one can expect also the good harvest. The purchase prices of cherries are similar to the prices of last year.

Last week in małopolskie province the price was 2.30 PLN (0.50 euro)/kg. In podkarpackie province the purchase prices fluctuated from 1.50 to 3.70 PLN (0.33-0.81 euro)/kg. In surroundings of Białystok the price of big, good quality fruits was even 5 PLN (1.10 euro)/kg. However, as we have already mentioned, the quality of cherries isn’t good this year due to too much rains causing cracking of fruits.
