Sharp decrease in tomatoes prices

Sunny weather in last weeks caused that at the moment market is oversupplied with tomatoes. Their prices sharply decreased last days. While on Monday, July 19, prices of tomatoes were around 22 PLN (5.42 €)/6 kg, on Tuesday price of B tomatoes declined to 14 PLN (3.45 €)/6 kg and BB tomatoes to 15 PLN (3.69 €)/6 kg and on Thursday prices further decreased to 8-10 PLN (1.97-2.46 €)/6 kg and 10-12 PLN (2.46-2.95 €)/6 kg adequately. And now one can observe strange situation. Retail prices are still around 5 PLN (1.23 €)/kg while wholesale prices are around 2 PLN (0.49 €)/kg. As a result the demand from retail chains is now low because they still have a lot of tomatoes, which were bought when wholesale prices were much higher.
