Spain: Apricots and nectarines damaged by frosts
The organisation also warned that 90% of the plantations were not insured "due ENESA's change of conditions, which the government was unable to prevent."
UPA has estimated the extent of the damage to be particularly severe in Nava de Campana, where 80% of the apricot and nectarine productions have been affected. Temperatures dropped as low as minus 3°C between 8 and 11 March.
Over 50% of the production has been damaged in other parts of the region, especially in Cañada de Agra and Mingogi. In the areas next to the river Mundo, almost 100% of the harvest has been lost.
In Isso, approximately 40% of the harvest has been damaged, depending on the area, with La Fuente and El Andaluz being the least damaged.
